Springkell Wedding Photographer
This incredible venue in Southern Scotland is one I know extremely well, the delightful gardens and the magnificent architecture of the building itself makes my job as a Springkell wedding photographer an easy one, light bursts through the towering windows and doorways no matter what the Scottish weather decides.
A hidden gem just fifteen minutes north of Carlisle and fifty minutes from central lake District, it sits in southern Dumfriesshire near the wedding capital that is Gretna Green but in all other ways a world away.
I have photographed many weddings here from the longest days of the summer to the shortest barely light days of December, I really love a Christmas wedding and here at Springkell they are really quite something!
The house, a Palladian mansion was built in 1734 with the impressive wings added a century later and has been in the Johnson Ferguson family for well over a century. For those lucky couples planning their wedding here the current owner, James Johnson-Ferguson, will most graciously help them along the way. He and his wife are very much hands on here and couldn’t me more welcoming to guests and suppliers alike, they are a complete pleasure to work for. I must now mention the incredible food at Springkell, over the last 5 years I have had the pleasure of many delicious meals here, they ceaselessly deliver the most amazing wedding banquets, as a Springkell wedding photographer, dinner here is always a bit of a high point!
